In 2004, POLWEL was appointed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) as an Approved Assessment Organisation (AAO) under the Security Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework.

As an AAO, POLWEL is responsible for conducting assessments on candidates for the security industry under the WSQ framework conducted by various Approved Training Organisations (ATOs). Candidates who are assessed to be competent in the relevant skills will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) by WDA and permitted to be deployed as a licensed security guard or supervisor.

   


The core functions of POLWEL AAO are:-
* To register and schedule candidates for assessment.
* To ensure the quality and consistency of assessment conducted.
* To ensure that the system of managing the assessment regime meets the service standards defined by the authorities.

Assessments are conducted by POLWEL AAO for a wide range of skill standards and at different qualification levels ranging from Certificate to Diploma level. In addition, POLWEL AAO also conducts assessments for candidates who wish to opt for the Assessment-Only Pathway (AOP) that allows exempted individuals to achieve a SOA directly without undergoing training at one of the ATOs.
